Gabrielle Union & Dwyane Wades daughter Kaavia turns two: The spark to our joy
This past Saturday was a celebratory day. Democracy won and we have a new President and VP Elect. Saturday was also Gabrielle and Dwayne Wade’s daughter, Kaavia Union Wade’s, second birthday. Gabrielle and Wade celebrated their “cutie” with photos and captions about Kaavia’s personality and how much of a gift she has been to their family. Gabrielle said that Kaavia is a “giggler of farts” and Wade called Kaavia “our #shadybaby” on his post. Below are a few quotes from their Instagram accounts via People:
The couple celebrated a special day in their lives on Saturday: their baby girl’s second birthday. Alongside a sweet slideshow that showed just how much Kaavia has grown, Union, 48, shared a sweet tribute to her little “cutie,” whom they welcomed via surrogate in 2018.
“The light of our lives. The spark to our joy in dark times. The giggler of farts. The eater of alllll the food. The dancer to the jams. The smart, funny, adventurous, cutie that gave us a different kind of purpose,” the actress wrote.
“We ♥️ you sooooo much,” she added. “Happy Birthday babygirl.”
In his own loving tribute, Wade briefly touched on how Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ victory in the 2020 presidential election made the day even sweeter.
“November 7th was always a special day in my life because it’s my Mothers birthday but now it’s times that special,” he wrote. “Happy 2nd Birthday to my BOSS @kaaviajames🎈🎈🎈aka Shady baby aka 2020 Meme Mood Thank you for providing laughter and joy to our lives and so many other families!”
Kaavia “Shadybaby” Union Wade is a whole mood. Her facial expressions become instantly meme-able. She is that baby who you KNOW has been on this planet before and she isn’t having the nonsense. I can’t go a week without using the picture below of her that became a much loved meme where she is looking at the camera like “whatchu talmbout??”
Kaavia has just turned out to be such a cutie and you know she will have a big personality. I love how adorable she is but this eyeroll is sending me.
I love the fact that both Gabrielle and Wade are allowing Kaavia to choose how she wishes to express who she is. It is wonderful that Gabrielle doesn’t put all of these social pressures on Kaavia, especially as it pertains to her hair. I also admire how Gabrielle and Dwayne have been open about their infertility struggles. I know that infertility can be a source of shame. It’s encouraging that such a high profile couple is normalizing the conversation around it.
I definitely look forward to watching little Kaavia grow up.
I think my ovaries just flipped:
