Mindy McCready Left Rehab Too Soon, Billy McKnight Calls It Big Mistake
Last month, we learned that country star Mindy McCready’s boyfriend committed suicide, and many believed that unusual remarks made by her PR team suggested there was more to the story. Less than a month after David Wilson’s death, Mindy took her own life, leaving their 9-year-old son an orphan. Mindy’s father Tim McCready said that, “since boyfriend shot himself,” Mindy has “been in bed for 3 wks. Sleeps all day. Drinks all night long and is taking Rx drugs. Not bathing or even helping take care of her 2 children.”
Two weeks ago, Mindy’s children were taken and she was ordered to enter a facility to address mental health issues and various substance abuses. But the singer left after less than a day, which ex-boyfriend Billy McKnight and father of her first child says is a “big mistake.” Radar Online reported that she threatened to commit suicide after she lost custody of her boys.
Everything about this news is tragic—even with vibrant red flags and textbook warning signs, family and friends were unable to help Mindy through her crisis. There is little good in this, except that her children weren’t in the home when it happened. Mindy also shot David’s dog, which seems to suggest an even deeper level of mental problems. Don’t most psychologists agree that there’s a big leap from self harm to violence against others? How was Mindy able to leave rehab so soon?
Mindy’s death has already been ruled a suicide by police, but Wilson’s is still under investigation. I hate to cast any suspicion on such a horrific series of events, but how long does it normally take for police investigators and coroners to determine cause of death? McKnight is fighting for custody of his son, and hopes that the boys can be raised together as brothers, instead of split up in foster care. There’s no real way to win, but I think we can all agree that these boys have been through hell, and deserve to have that last bond of family respected.
