Outlander's Sam Heughan has proven he's a real Scotsman despite revealing he has French, German and Norwegian ancestry.
And as Sam talked about growing up in Scotland and his roots he told of his plans to extend his tweed and tartan line to kilts and skirts as well as shawls.
The 40-year-old actor was born in Balmaclellan, in the historic county of Kirkcudbrightshire in Dumfries and Galloway and talked about his 'very idyllic childhood'.

Referencing his telly series Men In Kilts, Sam said: "I was brought up in rural Scotland on the grounds of a castle: it is the quintessential Scottish childhood, but I can see how it could have been very different, and so I’m thankful for the opportunity to be Scottish and that’s perhaps why I wanted to share it with this show."
Sam who was brought up on converted stables in the grounds of Castle Kenmur added: "Looking further into my family, and where I am from, I found out what kind of a mix I have in my ancestry.
"I have French, German and Norwegian in there. You think of all the avenues and paths your family could have taken, and I ended up being Scottish."
Sam who posed posted a new photo of his rough and ready character from SAS: Red Notice on his Instagram, initially showed off his line of 'The Sassenach' goodies on Instagram in December which he says were 'inspired by his love of Scotland'.

At that point the merchandise included scarves, a whisky hip flask, t-shirts and bags.
Sam revealed to The Rake magazine that he is now planning to extend the line to more wearable items including a kilt and skirt option.
He explained: "I didn’t know what my family was, and therefore what my tartan was, so I thought, Why not come up with something that everyone can be a part of?
"Just seeing the weavers making it — such a great tradition in Scotland. It is really important to support those crafts, it is what Britain does really well, great heritage and artisan manufacturers."
