Paramores Hayley Williams goes off at Melbourne show over onstage technical issues
Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams has called out technical difficulties at the band’s recent Melbourne concert, cleverly incorporating her gripe into the lyrics.
The fed-up singer was performing the group’s hit song Hard Times at Rod Laver Arena on Monday when the pyrotechnics used during the show went off at the wrong time – and, apparently, this wasn’t the first time the pyro was ill-timed.
“Somebody is getting fired. Beyoncé did it so we can too. And I can’t wait to speak with you. It’s the third time you’ve done that s**t to us,” she sang to the tune of Hard Times, a banger from their fifth studio album After Laughter.
The incident was filmed by a fan and shared on TikTok, with comments from viewers flooding in.
“The Beyonce somebody getting fired reference is top tier,” commented one, while another noted, “Someone made mom MAD.”
Yet another wrote, “When you lied on your resume and now Miss Hayley Williams is shouting at you in front of thousands of people.”
The Grammy Award-winning trio – which consists of Williams, Zac Farro and Taylor York – are about to wrap their Aussie tour during which they played two shows in Melbourne as well Brisbane and Sydney, playing at the iconic Domain.
Their third and last show in Melbourne will be this evening.
A portion of their ticket sales will be donated to Australia’s leading food rescue organisations OzHarvest to help reduce food wastage.

This was Paramore’s first visit Down Under since 2018, when they played sold-out shows across our East Coast.
“Do you know how excited we are to see y’all? The last time we were there was 2018, so it’s been a lifetime,” Williams told Aussie radio host Kent “Smallzy” Small on Nova ahead of their arrival this month.
“We’ve basically toured for just about a year. We started last [US] fall, kicked off with This Is Why and that was all over the States. Then we did a South American run, a UK run and we just wrapped up a big North American run that was a very incredible and very long summer. But you know what? These shows are so memorable, there’s so much joy … It’s such a treat for us.”
