Raul Jimenez broke down in tears in farewell video to Wolverhampton: "Once a Wolf, always a Wolf"
Raúl Jiménez's life took a 180-degree turn this summer. He went from being Wolverhampton's top idol and all-time goal-scorer to a last-minute arrival at Fulham.
Jimenez and his family had not closed the chapter of his life with Wolves, at least until today, when they uploaded a video to their social networks to say goodbye.
Both Raul and his wife Daniela can be seen breaking down at the end of the video after manifesting their appreciation to the community they found at the club.
Raul Jimenez's farewell to Wolves
"A few years ago, we came to Wolverhampton with a dream in our hearts and an immeasurable passion for football. We hardly knew that this city would become much more than our home, it would become the place where our family grew up, where we laughed, cried and made unforgettable moments like the coffee time girls! We will miss you, we will miss all our friends. The place where our wolf pack (their children) was born," said Daniela Basso, Raul Jimenez' partner about the previous stage of her life next to the father of her children.
Raul went on saying that "Representing this club alongside each of my teammates has been an honor and a privilege. Every time I stepped on the field, every goal, every moment of joy and every tear I felt the unconditional support from all of you. I cant put into words what that has meant to me. Throughout this journey, we have shared moments of glory, joy and tenderness. But also, very difficult moments."
This in reference to his skull fraction injury at the end of 2020 that sidelined him for a considerable time and put his career at risk.
Jimenez continued saying that "thanks to the strength I found in the love of my family and the unwavering faith and encouragement I received from all of you I managed to rise up and return the field to keep fighting for the colors that I cherish so much. We will never forget the affection that you bestowed upon us in every moment, in every chant, in every goal celebration. Today the cycle ends and as I embark on a new challenge I want to assure you that Wolverhampton will always hold a very special place in my heart and in the hearts of my family."
Daniela closed the video by saying: "It's time to face a new challenge and write a new chapter but we want you to know that your support will never be forgotten."
Raul's last remarks are directed to Wolves fans as he is seen saying "And remember, no matter where I am "Once a Wolf, Always a Wolf. Thanks to all. Si señor!"
Jimenez' time with the Wolves
The Mexican striker joined Wolverhampton in 2018 after a somewhat successful stage of his career with Benfica.
At the time, there were questions regarding his performance with some analysts questioning if he could manage to return to his best level.
It is safe to say that he did indeed find it as he became the top goal-scoring player of the Premier League team.
He finished with 57 goals and 24 assists in 166 games with the Wolves.
